# Verify Archil yourself

> Check Archil performance, isolation, availability, integrations, and data portability on your own account, without taking our word for it.

You shouldn't have to take a vendor's numbers on trust, so every claim below comes with a way to check it yourself.

## Performance

| Claim | How to check it |
| - | - |
| Mount in 50 ms p50, 4 KiB cache-miss read in 0.5 ms p50, durable 4 KiB write in 2.0 ms p50 | Run the [latency script](https://docs.archil.com/reference/limits.md#reproduce-these-numbers) in the same region as your disk. It takes about two minutes. |
| Checkpoint in 13 ms and branch in 33 ms p50 | The same script measures both. |
| git, npm, and SQLite transaction workloads about 5x to 190x faster than Amazon EFS | The [benchmark](https://docs.archil.com/details/comparison.md#benchmark-against-amazon-efs) lists the host, tool versions, and method, so you can run the same tests from your own host. |
| Where Archil is slower | The [same benchmark](https://docs.archil.com/details/comparison.md#benchmark-against-amazon-efs) lists the tests EFS won: sequential writes, 4 KiB random writes, and one large SQLite insert. |

## Sandbox isolation

Sandboxes run in [Firecracker](https://firecracker-microvm.github.io/), the open-source microVM monitor that AWS built
for Lambda and Fargate. Its source and security model are public. To check the boundaries from inside a sandbox on the
Developer plan:

```bash theme={null}
curl -m 5 http://169.254.169.254/      # cloud metadata: fails
curl -m 5 https://example.com/         # not on the managed allowlist: fails
curl -m 5 https://registry.npmjs.org/  # package registry on the allowlist: succeeds
uname -r                               # the sandbox's own guest kernel
```

See [Isolation](https://docs.archil.com/compute/sandboxes/introduction.md#isolation) and the [firewall allowlist](https://docs.archil.com/compute/sandboxes/firewall.md#developer-plan-allowlist).

## Availability

[status.archil.com](https://status.archil.com) shows per-component uptime for the last 90 days and every incident we've
posted. Archil disks have served production traffic since October 2024.

## Integrations, from the other side

These platforms document Archil on their own sites:

* [E2B: Archil storage](https://e2b.dev/docs/storage/archil)
* [Daytona: mount an Archil disk](https://www.daytona.io/docs/en/mount-external-storage/#mount-an-archil-disk)
* [Superserve: Archil storage](https://docs.superserve.ai/storage/archil)
* [Terraform Registry: the archil-data/archil provider](https://registry.terraform.io/providers/archil-data/archil/latest)

## Data portability

A disk synchronized with your own bucket stores every file as a normal object in that bucket. List it with any S3 tool,
for example `aws s3 ls s3://<your-bucket>/ --recursive`, and it stays readable without Archil. See
[Data sources](https://docs.archil.com/concepts/data-sources.md). Archil-managed disks use Archil's own storage format, so copy their files out
through a mount or the [S3 API](https://docs.archil.com/protocols/s3-api.md).
